L'Aperegina is an organic agriturismo located in the centre of beautiful Gran Sasso and Monte della Laga National Park, one of the three National Parks of the Abruzzo region. It is run by Marino and Elide who have restored and converted what was once the old shepherd's house into country accommodation still immersed in the woods and enjoying an fabulous uninterrupted view of both the surrounding mountains and the Adriatic coast in the distance.

The main activity of the working farm today is bee keeping. The surrounding gardens are used mainly for cultivating vegetables for the agriturismo while a small plot is dedicated to medicinal herbs. Guests are warmly welcomed with genuine local hospitality and friendliness and you will be encouraged to explore every part of the farm. No doubt, you will get a great thrill from the presence of animals such as pigs, chickens, a donkey and a goat.

Your stay in Abruzzo

The main building has two double bedrooms and two extra beds to sleep a total of 6 people. The rooms are furnished in a tidy, rustic style, both simple and practical.

Tree house accommodation

Uniquely, an additional room is a genuine treehouse as explained by Marino: "Our recently built tree house had just enough room for a Japanese style bed and a wardrobe. It is very popular with couples with the tranquil wind gently rustling the branches creating a special atmosphere. And the almond tree still bears good fruit!"

There are also many corners on the farm where guests can relax rest, meditate, read a good book or participate in one of the many activities proposed such as traditional Abruzzo cooking lessons. Your meals are always a convivial and shared experience and made from the seasonal produce of the farm.

Laperegina is only 50 km from Pescara International Airport and the coast is within easy reach, but it is the opportunities offered for excursions, walking and trekking in the three national parks and over 30 natural reserves which makes it such a great base for a vacation in Abruzzo. Owner Marino can advise with local information and help plan your day and stay. Two suggestions could be a picnic near the Lavino and Pescara springs or canoeing on the River Tirino, one of the cleanest and most pristine rivers in Italy.
