The food and wine of the Adriatic coast along the Italian Riviera in Emilia Romagna is as varied and rich as the territory. From Ravenna to Ferrara, Rimini to Forli-Cesena each province boasts its own unique flavours and culinary traditions.

If there is a common thread which links so many typical products and dishes then it must be the wine, and Sangiovese in particular.

Discover the cantine, small producers and consortiums by following the Wine and Flavour Routes of Emilia Romagna or 'Le Strade dei Vini e dei Sapori dell'Emilia Romagna'.

Get going with a wine tour of the hills of Forli Cesena.

Fine wine, of course, needs accompanying with fine food and 'Delizie in Riviera' is a new guide dedicated to visitors who know how to eat and travel well.

Divided into five sections the food of the territory is introduced and explained via a culinary journey taking in the provinces of Ferrara, Ravenna, Forlì Cesena and Rimini.

The guide also indicates where to buy each product and where to find the best restaurants in the zone. There is also a list of the annual food festivals or sagre.

Perhaps your best starting point is the Enoteca Regionale dell'Emilia Romagna. The winery is set in the splendid cellars at Dozza castle. There are over 600 labels selected by a panel of experts and DOC and DOCG regional wines can be tasted and bought.
