Purchasing one of the reserved gallery tickets is a two-step process: First, a list is compiled at 1 p.m. in front of the Scala evening box office, located on Via Filodrammatici. Any person who wishes to receive a ticket, must arrive in person to be placed on the list.
After being put on the list, you must return to the box office at 5:30 p.m., at which point a roll-call will be conducted, and every person will be assigned a number. The assigned number designates the order in which you are allowed to purchase your ticket. Prices vary by performance, but most tickets are significantly discounted - some cost as little as 10 euro.
Don't have time to attend a Scala performance? For 5 euro, you can browse the Scala Museum, which displays various costumes and theatre sets used throughout the history of the opera house. The museum also exhibits some of Italy's most prominent composers, most notably Giuseppe Verdi. Be sure to take a look at the auditorium itself, which alone is worth the price of admission".
