The event is described as a 'mercato della qualità agroalimentare' and is organised in collaboration with Slow Food.
Anyone who attends will be stimulated by the richness and uniqueness of the typical products and gastronomic tradition of Roero, which is not just red wine and truffles.
But you can combine your visit with the 'Fiera Regionale del Tartufo e dei Vini del Roero' held at the same time in Vezza d'Alba.
Getting there needs a touch of attention. The town of Canale sits due north of Alba, between Montà d'Alba and Vezza d'Alba.
Further south is Piobesi Alba, Corneliano d'Alba, Monticello d'Alba and Santa Vittoria d'Alba. If you find yourself heading towards Baldissero d'Alba, you are going in the wrong direction.
Interestingly, Canale was founded in 1260 by the Comune of Asti before passing over to the court of Savoia in the 16th century, but remained an important agricultural market town throughout.
