If you travel within the region of Calabria make sure that you are not on diet!. The local cuisine is very tasty and made with local fresh products.
With this in mind we asked the Accademia della Cucina Calabra to highlight for us a typical menu, and this is what they said:

For the main dish we would suggest the typical Lagane pasta with chick peas, this homemade pasta is very similar at the pappardelle and made with or without eggs.
The second course would be fried cod accompanied with 'peperoni abbrusculiati' which are dried peppers fried with olive oil.
Finally the local cakes.
Turdilli, chinuli andpanicilli are the typical Christmas cakes of Scalea, the rest of the year you can have a great ice cream!
The wine we suggest is the white Berbicaro'.
