Traditional Folklore Festivals

Traditional folklore events across the Italian regions such as the Carnival of Ivrea, the Palio of Siena and the historical Regata of Venice. Many coincide with a patron saint day or commemorate a special moment in the history of the town or city.

Religious festivals are not just Christmas and Easter, but a whole series of patron saint days which are celebrated with particular local passion. Look out for the Feast of Saint Nicholas in Bari, Puglia, or the Madonna della Bruna in Matera, Basilicata.
