Born in 1573, Don Ferrante or Ferdinando Loffredo was a Neapolitan nobleman who enjoyed many titles; First Marquis of Trevico, Lord of San Sossio and Zingoli, Governor General of Bari and Terra d'Otranto, Lord of Lecce and Dean of Sacro Regio Consiglio. When Don Ferrante was the Viceroy of Bari and Terra d'Otranto the city walls and the first part of the castle of Charles V were built in Monopoli. It is here Relais 'Don Ferrante' is located.
To get there you must walk through the typical narrow alleys of the old town which sets up the atmosphere for your stay perfectly.
