Consolato d'Abruzzo Restaurant, Rome

Since 1996, the Restaurant Consolato d'Abruzzo has been serving traditional Abruzzo dishes and cuisine in north east Rome.

Located just off the Via Nomentana as it reaches the main centre from Tivoli, the restaurant is a classic family managed and elegant trattoria.

Diners will find a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as well as genuine food from the Abruzzesi region of Italy, both the coast and mountains zones.

The Consolato d’Abruzzo is not in the touristy part of Rome and you will definitely be eating as the Romans do.

Clients can benefit from free parking in a garage just 20 metres away.

The restaurant is especially ideal for groups. Medium to large groups are requested to make a reservation.

Traditional Menu

Your meal can begin with a great range of starters. Typical cheeses and salumi are one of the great specialities of Abruzzo, as is sea food.

Filling first courses include typical Abruzzesi home made pasta dishes such as 'cavatelli' , 'pappardelle al cinghiale' or, during the winter, 'polenta con le spuntature'.

Second courses feature the unmissable grilled fish or meat over the open fire.

The house wine is a selection of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo labels.

Before you leave, do note just outside the restaurant in the middle of the small modern square, there is an archaeological ruin from the II century BC. It is a sepulchre or tomb dedicated to a Roman called Elio Callisto.
