Relais San Biagio is a converted ancient monastery located in the Monte Subasio Natural Park in central Umbria. Its origins date back one thousand years.
As well as a being a religious structure, it offered accommodation for nobles and Templar knights of the time and subsequently hospitality for medieval pilgrims travelling to Rome and beyond.
Today, Relais San Biagio has been carefully restored and is ideally located for visitors seeking out the likes Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto, Gubbio and the nearby regions of Tuscany, Le Marche and Lazio.
The traditional silence of the location is in perfect harmony with Wellness Activities proposed, from the on site Spa and Hammam to the first phytocosmetic laboratory in Italy.
The latter refers to the art of using medicinal herbs just as the monks once did who lived in the old monastery of ‘Saint Blasii’.
DINING AND EVENTS
The monk's refectory has now been converted to an in house restaurant with a fine panoramic view of the surrounding hills and woods.
The menu is local Umbrian and made up of organic food cultivated in the nearby plots, as well as meat from free range animals.
The restaurant and relais can also cater for business meetings, training courses and group dinners for up to 150 people.
Who could not refuse another famous product of monastic life, the artisan beer which cannot be missed.
Guests can also enjoy the perfumes of the fields, herbs and freshly cut hay, as well as the freshly baked bread and other scents of nature.
ROOMS AND RATES
Guests stay can choose from 12 double rooms on three floors, with an additional 4 rooms in an adjacent building. The typologies of the rooms are Classic, Superior, De Luxe and Junior Suite.
The refined interiors are as silent as the period of its construction and, although a lot more comfortable today, still have the atmosphere of the time.
