The 4 star Grand Hotel Chiaia di Luna is located in an enviable and chamring position above the beautiful Chiaia di Luna bay on the island of Ponza.
The ambience of the bay is a natural amphitheatre overlooking the sea towards the protected island of Palmarola and the harbour of Ponza, with the centre of the island just a 500 meter walk.
Traditionally opening for the season on May Day, the hotel offers 4 typologies of room; standard, classic, suite and seaview.
All are furnished in typical Mediterranean style with air conditioning and all but the standard tooms coming with WiFi connections. Book a suite and enjoy pay per view tv on large plasma screens.
All guests can dip into the panoramic seawater swimming pool which boasts a solarium equipped with sunbeds and towels. During the day, refresh yourself at the poolside bar, while the main hotel restaurant is called “Chiaia” with 'Kibar' being the terraced lounge bar.
DINING
Ristorante Chiaia offers a day menu for €35 prepared by star chef Salvatore Capasso from Naples. Kibar is named after Kiba, a Jack Russell who is also the bar's mascot. Here diners can sit on plush cushion tasting appetizers or Neapolitan pizza cooked in a wood fired oven. Kibar is especially great for an aperitif as the sun sets over the bay.
YOUR STAY IN PONZA
More adventurous visitors can request scuba diving trips to such celebrated dive spots as Punta del Papa and the Faraglioni of Lucia Rosa. The former is home to the wreck of an English vessel dating from the Second World War.
Chiaia di Luna beach is reached by passing through an ancient Roman tunnel. The high tufa rock makes it accessible only by sea otherwise.
To complete your stay the hotel staff can suggest tours of Ponza, as well proposing visits to the nature reserves of Palmarola and Island of Zannone, part of the National Park of Circeo. Also ask reception for rental cars, boats and scooter hire for independent trips.
