Val di Fassa
Some regions of Italy have yet to develop as all year round destinations. Something which we hope our guide is contributing to in a small way at least.
Trentino and Alto Adige suffers from no off season blues.
Summer is, if anything, packed with a greater variety of events and goings on than winter snow based pursuits.
In just one valley in the region, the Val di Fassa northeast of Trento, there are 7 major events taking place.
One for each of the seven towns of Moena, Soraga, Pozza di Fassa, Vigo di Fassa, Mazzin, Campitello di Fassa and Canazei.
The most interesting for a new comer to the valleys must be the two events dedicated to the Ladino culture.
The first was the opening of the Museo Ladino di Fassa on the 8th July 2002.
The second was the accompanying celebration of Ladino traditions and history. The goings on took place in the hay lofts, or 'fienili', in Canazei. Very intriguing.
